Details

Sakarun is one of the world's most beautiful bays. It was declared one of the 25 most beautiful bays of all world continents. Also, Sakarun is one of the most famous beaches in Zadar County the absolute gem of Croatia. It is located at the northwestern end of Dugi otok, the last in the series of the islands of the Zadar archipelago. Dugi otok is really the largest island in this part of Dalmatia, 44.5 km long and only 4.8 km wide. 

Places near the beach are Soline, Božava and Veli rat. Sakarun or Saharun, as this beach is also called, it is a picturesque bay about 800 m long that looks like the Caribbean in the heart of the Adriatic. Despite the fact that Sakarun beach is located next to the open sea, it is protected by a long bay and that is why the sea is always at a pleasant temperature for swimming. Sakarun is considered one of the 10 most beautiful beach in the world, and it owes its reputation to fine white sand and the turquoise color of the sea is incredibly clear. It is a beach with white fine sand at the bottom, and also meadows sea ​​flowering posidonia (Posidonie oceanice), a Mediterranean endemic. Ruby is sad with white stone pebbles, and is located on the northwestern side of Dugi otok, open to the south and the open sea of the Adriatic. 

On the way to Sakarun, on the western part of Dugi otok, there is one of the most famous of the Adriatic lighthouses Veli rat (or the lighthouse on Punta Bijanka in the dialect or in the local name population). 

The excursion departs from Zadar or Punta Skala (by arrangement) and goes along the Zadar Canal to Punta Cross on the island of Sestrunje. After that, you go through the Maknara passage to the open sea (between the islands of Molat and Dugi otok). Then to the open sea along Punta Bjanka and along Lagnjiće to Sakaruna.
